Integrated STEM Education: The Effects of a Long-Term Intervention on Students’ Cognitive Performance

Integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (iSTEM) education is a promising approach to attracting more qualified better motivated students STEM fields. In this study, we respond one of the salient challenges facing integrated educational research, namely investigating its impact. We developed large-scale intervention where all components are examined impact curriculum has had on cognitive performances regarding physics, mathematics, technological concepts, physics mathematics. total, 859 grade 9 students, distributed across 39 Flemish different schools, participated in long-term study. The results multilevel analyses show that iSTEM positive effects performance terms mathematics knowledge application concepts. Also, differential were found with regard student characteristics.
